Well, what a year! The new year's resolution to write an occasional blog failed completely. I re read Christmas 2023 and I see I was over excited about changes to my workshop!
Well it now has a window, a door and even four walls so there's major progress. it has really improved the light in there too and when people come to visit I don't have to apologise in advance. Yes it can still be messy, but it is creatively messy and I love it :) The picture above is how I see my studio and me with perfectly manicured hands. The reality is so different - cue broken fingernails and hands black with jeweller's polish and you see the real me.
Last year I seem to have really found my groove with my collection of lava jewellery. This is really my signature style now - I love the juxtaposition of melted silver combined with precious gemstones. It seems to be popular with my customers too which is obviously a bonus. It's a joy to make and no two pieces can ever be the same.
I found my inspiration for this collection on the lunar landscape of Lanzarote. It really is my kind of place with lava fields and extinct (mostly) volcanoes all around. It's easy to escape the crowds and I was lucky to introduce my girlfriends to the joys of Lanzarote back in October. Suffice to say they liked it too. It's a stunning place to visit.
