Many years ago in a galaxy far away...
Ok ok, so that's been done before - let's try again..hi - I'm Harriet from Sputnik Jewellery and I'd like to tell you how and why this all started.
I've been around jewellery my entire life, but I guess most of us have in some way or other. For me, my love of jewellery started with my dad who for most of my life was a regular at 'tech' in Leamington Spa, studying and making jewel

lery. My dad loved jewellery and design and spent many years under the tutelage of 'Reg' designing and learning how to make jewellery. As a small child I used to love to see him open his jewellery workbox and take out his latest creation. I still have his wooden jewellery workbox and it's true to say it's one of my treasures. One of my proudest moments was wearing a silver garnet necklace my dad made for me to wear on my wedding day.
Roll on too many years to mention and I again found myself thinking was it time to start my jewellery journey. Along came lock down and an opportunity to work at my day job four days a week and try my hand at making jewellery at my local college. That was three years ago and honestly the best decision I have every made.
I write with a small lump in my throat as sadly my dad passed away a few years ago and never knew of my risky career change. However, his wooden jewellery box now contains some of his old and my new gemstones. I do see his influence in the jewellery I am creating and occasionally I do get a sense of him still being around, particularly when I open his work box and get a faint whiff of his tobacco smoke.
So here's to dads everywhere!
